A native of Salinas, Dr. Tiffany Meeks graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology in 2014. Following graduation, she returned home to work as a physical therapy aide at Balance Physical Therapy and Human Performance Center from August 2015 to December 2016.
Her time spent with the team solidified her decision to pursue her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. She graduated from St. Augustine in 2019.
Tiffany returned to Balance Physical Therapy in November 2019, to continue her career.
Tiffany has a passion for sports that began at a young age playing basketball, volleyball, softball, and anything that she could compete with her brother in. At Notre Dame High School, from which she graduated in 2010, Tiffany took a special interest in softball and suffered a serious knee injury that introduced her to the world of physical therapy. The recovery process ignited her passion for the profession and instilled in her the importance of rehab, prehab and optimizing movement, which allowed her to continue on her athletic pursuit to play four years of collegiate softball at UMASS.
Tiffany’s experience has led to a passion for not only helping others on their own rehabilitation journey, but for providing proactive education to help others improve their quality of life through better movement. As a physical therapist, Tiffany strongly believes that exercise is medicine, and her approach to recovery incorporates the entire movement system in order to find her patient’s source of pain and the underlying cause of the problem. She provides hands-on, manual treatment as well as individualized exercise programs supported by the best available evidence to deliver comprehensive care to her patients.
“I was always really impressed by the time and attention that the PTs and aides gave to each person that walked through the door and I felt like they really worked hard for their patients and cared about what happened inside the treatment room as well as outside,” Tiffany said about her first stint with Balance PT. “Also, the Balance team is really fun to be a part of and is really focused on moving forward and working to better themselves. On internships in grad school, I got to experience other clinics and it just really made me appreciate how Balance does things.”
In her spare time, Tiffany enjoys being outside, live music, furry animals (big and small) and long walks down every aisle at Target. She stays active in her community through a variety of fitness classes and sports clubs and is a faithful fan of the San Francisco Giants and 49ers.
